CELESTE REY

Celeste Rey was born in Rosario, Argentina, the cultural epicentre of Tango.

She started her artistic studies in 1995, examining in depth the art of "Comedias Musicales" taught at the prestigious theatre of Rosario "El Circulo".

Under the guidance of he instructor, Nora Gonzalez Pozzi, she got a degree in Musical Comedies, and graduated in Theatre Arts (singing, jazz dance and musicals). Among the most significant plays of her career were "Robin Hood - The Musical", "El Diluvio que viene" and "Gotan," which made her discover her love for Tango.

It was in Rosario that she started to study Argentinian Tango with three very well known teachers in town: Sebastian de la Vallina, Ricardo Calvo and Marisa Talamoni. At the same time, she continued studying Jazz dance with instructor, Mabel Rivero, along with pilates.

In the future years, she moved to Buenos Aires, where she continued her study of Jazz dance, improving her technique thanks to instructor, Manuel Vallejos. Under Patricia Avila's instruction, she was able to achieve a degree as a Pilates teacher at every level, which required using all the tools this discipline utilizes (reformer, chear, cadillac, barril and Pilates mat).

Starting in 2006, Celeste started dedicating her time solely to Tango, and living permanently in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina. At that time, she studied with famous instructors like, Ruben and Silvia Veliz, who gave her style an important imprinting. Many other talented Argentinian tango teachers contributed to Celeste's form, style and preparation, to name a few: Roberto Herrera and Miguel Angel Zotto.


SEBASTIAN NIEVA

Sebastian Nieva was born in Comodoro Rivadavia, in the heart of Patagonia. From an early age, he studied Argentinian Tango.

After a five-year course at Instituto Académico Fracassi in Buenos Aires, he received his degree as a Tango teacher in 2001, with summa cum laudem honors.

In 2007, he moved to Buenos Aires where he studied with Rubén y Sabrina Veliz, and enriched his knowledge and preparation thanks to the talented instructors, Roberto Herrera, Miguel Ángel Zotto, Julio Balmaceda, Carlitos Pérez and "el flaco" Dany.

He completed his studies learning Jazz dance from teacher, Manuel Vallejos, and joined a five-year course, "Contact improvisation" at Universidad Nacional de Arte en Buenos Aires (IUNA).

OUR STORY

The pair has been dancing Tango since 2007 and in 2008 they made it to the World Tango League final in Buenos Aires for the "Tango Salon" category.

During their professional career as Tango dancers, they have worked in several Casas de Cena Shows in Buenos Aires, like "Bocatango" and "Taconeando"; and at several academies, like "Aires Tangueros." They also taught at the "Cambalache" and "Moretango" festivals, and at tango companies, like "Juan Carlos Copes" and "Tango & Tango".

In 2010, they moved to Japan to work as teachers and choreographers at "Destino Tango" in Nagoya. They taught several tango workshops all around Japan, specifically in Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe. In 2011, they joined the "Imperio Tango" company in Tokyo.

Since 2013, they have been teachers and guests to many European Tango festivals as well, particularly in Italy, France, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, Holland, Germany and Switzerland.

From 2014 to 2018, they were tango teachers and art directors at cultural centres "Tango Querido," in Messina, Sicily and at "Tango Academy Zenith" in Catania between 2017-18.

Most recently they have been teaching at festivals and workshops all over Europe and Asia, and have become members of the "Tango Rouge Company," run by Neri Piliu and Yanina Quiñone. The couple are currently the presidents and teachers of the tango association "Stirpe Tanghera," which has different branches all over Tuscany, specifically in Florence and Figline Valdarno.

With 24 years of experience, Celeste Rey and Sebastian Nieva are well-rounded professionals with expertise knowledge of Tango and have been developed their careers with excellence in Argentinian Tango.
